More than one year after Maryland dentist Thomas Menton died by suicide following a police investigation, three women are suing his estate and former practice, the Baltimore Banner reported Thursday.
Menton, 59, was facing allegations he had placed a camera in a staff bathroom to clandestinely record three female colleagues in the nude.
Citing the lawsuit and police records, the Banner said the camera was found in a Jack-and-Jill-style bathroom between Menton’s office and another used by other dentists. The suit also alleges Menton encouraged staff to use the bathroom’s shower after purchasing a Peloton stationary exercise bike for the clinic, urging them to work out during work hours.
The case began when one of the women discovered the hidden camera.
During the investigation, Menton told police he kept a charging block in the bathroom for his watch, but denied placing a camera in the space. He also said he wouldn’t have accidentally bought a charger containing a camera.
On Jan. 13, 2024, Menton died by suicide, days after the investigation began. While criminal charges were never filed, the case continues to unfold in local and federal courts.
