My Review of Hourglass Unlocked Soft Matte Lipstick
Although I am really loving a glossy lip at the moment, I was excited to try this new launch because I love the Satin Creme version of the Unlocked lipstick. If you want to check those out, read: Hourglass Unlocked Satin Creme Lipstick Review & Swatches.
First up, I think I should say, although these lipsticks are called Soft Matte, I think they are more on the full matte side. This isn’t at all a negative and the formula is absolutely lovely, but I’d just say it’s matte rather than soft matte.
The shade I have been trying is Tulip and it’s a gorgeous nude. The texture is soft and smooth, and glides onto the lips straight from the bullet easily. The shape of the lipstick itself makes application effortless.
I paired it with one of the new Lip Liners (Hourglass Shape and Sculpt Lip Liner Review & Swatches) in shade Expose, and they work really well together.
The finish of the Hourglass Unlocked Soft Matte Lipstick is super flattering, and it looks nice and smooth on the lips. It is long lasting, easy to layer and re-apply and it doesn’t dry out the lips. I am excited to try out more shades.
The formula itself is pretty versatile. You can use a liner and make quite a precise and bold statement, or alternatively, you can dab it on to the lips and blend out with fingers for a softer, more blurred look.
The packaging is really lovely as always with Hourglass. The cases have the Unlocked H and rabbit logo which indicates that it is part of the brand’s collection that is created in support of the Nonhuman Rights Project’s mission to unlock the cages of wild animals in captivity.
Hourglass donate 5% of the net profits from all Unlocked products to the Nonhuman Rights Project.
