The reintroduction of fluoride to Calgary’s drinking water has been delayed again, Global News recently shared.
Infrastructure upgrades that are under construction at the water treatment plants have had their expected completion date pushed from September to the beginning of 2025.
Fluoride was removed from Calgary’s drinking water back in 2011. In November 2021, the city council voted to return fluoride to the water with 62 percent in favour.
“The water supply people have known since then that they had to do this. It’s going to be another year and that’s just appalling,” said Dickinson, a professor of family medicine and community health sciences at the University of Calgary.
